Common Juniper (Juniperus communis)

Common juniper is an evergreen shrub of the Cupressaceae family, with prickly needles. Its 'berries' are actually small fleshy cones, called galbuli, which turn dark blue as they ripen: they are what give gin its aroma.

On this page you'll find all Naturalma products made with fresh juniper buds and berries:

  • Bud extract: fresh juniper buds at 2.5% in vegetable glycerine and water. The label dose is 40 drops (2 ml) in a glass of water, one to three times a day; 2 ml contain 50 mg of juniper. 120 ml bottle.
  • Essential oil: distilled from the berries (galbuli), in a 10 or 30 ml amber glass bottle. It is a natural food flavouring: a few drops are enough to flavour 100 g of food.

Good to know before use. The bud extract should not be used during pregnancy or if you have kidney disease or dysfunction, and not for prolonged periods without seeking medical advice: 6 weeks at most. The essential oil must never be used pure: dilute it and avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Full warnings are on each product page.
